Sarah Breedlove Walker, known now as Madam C.J. Walker, was an entrepreneur and later a philanthropist and an activist, famed for the hair care empire she built especially for black women. She founded her business at 37 and is credited as the first black female millionaire and the first woman, period, to become a self-made millionaire in the United States.
