Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron, is considered the first computer programmer and was perhaps the first to realize that computers would be able to do more than calculate figures; she believed that music, text, and pictures could all be turned into digital documents. (She pioneered your #content.) Lovelace died at 36 and her technological contributions were overlooked for generations. Now Ada Lovelace Day is held on the second Tuesday of October every year, giving us an occasion to celebrate all of the contributions that STEM's forgotten women have made to the digital revolution.
