She belongs to the Nahua-Pipi Indigenous community who in El Salvador often are left behind when it comes to possibility of education and fair paying jobs. Maxima and 3 of her friends took it upon themselves however to make their own business by preparing 'Encurtidos' and 'Escabeches', a typical Salvadoran food. As part of the association 'Mujeres Agricultoras de Pushtan' they have had trainings to learn to make, pack and after sell these products which has improved the quality of lives of many women in the community.
