Happy birthday to Gerhard Richter! The celebrated contemporary artist’s work, Abstraktes Bild (654–4), 1988, will be offered in our March Contemporary Art Evening sale in #London. A visually arresting example from Richter’s revered body of #abstract #paintings, the spectacular #colour effects of these dramatic compositions are created through an idiosyncratic painterly method, and the use of a unique depictive tool: the squeegee. Richter has said “the paintings gain their life from our desire to recognise something in them.
