Photo by @FransLanting In this otherworldly place, all the magic ingredients responsible for life on earth are here—sunlight, water, minerals, and energy. At this geyser, photographed at sunrise in the Great Basin of Nevada, water heated deep underground spouts into the morning air, boiling hot. Ancient algae and bacteria cling to its sides and tint it with rainbow colors. Please note that this exquisite formation is very fragile, and it's located on private property not open to the public.
