When the @bigapplecircus permanently closed last fall, animal advocates worried that the out-of-work animals might end up in shelters. Instead, more than 2 dozen horses, a few pigs and a rowdy cluster of dogs moved in with a former Big Apple Circus trainer, @jennyvibel. “They retire, and that’s it,” @jennyvibel told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “I’m going to give them this in return for their whole life.” But it won’t be quite a full retirement, for either the animals or @jennyvibel. Many of the former performers are going to take part in a therapy program that will pair them with special-needs children, economically disadvantaged kids and older people. “I saw how the kids were affected by the animals, and I started thinking these animals need to be rehabilitated through a loving relationship,” @jennyvibel told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “It’s not about bringing an animal in that will provide comfort. The animals need their help. It’s about helping one another.” @vincenttullo @jennyvibel photographed on her 70-acre farm in Wyndam, New York. #?
