On Sullivan’s Island, as Kenneth Ezell unloaded a day’s harvest of crabs, and as pelicans swarmed for scraps, the photographer @huntermcrae was there to capture the scene. Sullivan’s Island is just over the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge — a stunning cable-stayed structure — from downtown Charleston, #SouthCarolina. Visitors can follow one of the new wooden catwalks to traverse the marsh and dunes and find the vast expanse of one of the East Coast’s great beaches. But there’s much more to see in Charleston, with its cobblestone streets and complex history. Visitors love Charleston for its mild climate (think 70-degree days in February), the scent of tea olive trees that floats in the air, the orchestra of church bells that crescendos on Sunday morning and more. It’s a genteel and mannerly place with its complex history in plain view, such as its Revolutionary-era stone hitching post and the Old Slave Mart on Chalmers Street, which is now a museum. Visit the link in our profile to find out how to spend #36Hours in Charleston, a cultural hotbed and gastro-magnet.
