A #bird in the hand: Sir George Clausen’s ‘The Bird’s Nest’ of 1902, showing a young boy holding a pale blue egg, displays all the qualities which led contemporary critics to hail him as ‘a British Master’. The #painting disappeared into a private collection in 1923 – its present rediscovery adds significantly to our understanding of the artist’s development at the turn of the century. This charming work, the cover lot of tomorrow’s sale of Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art, is currently on view in our #London galleries. #preraphaelite #victorian
