From David Bowie’s personal #art collection, Harold Gilman’s ‘Interior (Mrs Mounter)’, 1917, is an essay in stillness and the remains of the day. At first glance, it appears anything but revolutionary, but in the context of British art in the early 20th century, it was highly radical. This was a new kind of subject, a suburban lodger and part-time charlady, in an ordinary London house. The work is on view in our New Bond Street galleries until noon on 10 November. Stop by!
