For two thousand years, Eastern Turkestan has been the cradle of silk. In Jiya village, to the West of Hotan, the passing of time did not affect either the thousand-year-old gestures or the tools: the women are still watching over the silkworms, spinning on a wheel and weaving the precious fabric.
