Perhaps the most beautiful and enigmatic rock art in North America is the Grand Canyon Polychrome style. It is known from only 26 sites in Mojave County Arizona. The images are haunting and evoke Australian x-ray style aboriginal art more than anything in the South West. It is a privilege to be able to stand before these remote paintings and wonder “what were the lives of the people who painted them like?” “What were they trying to communicate?”
That urge for permanent visual communication is a  basic human instinct. We have been doing it for over 130,000 years.
