"I’m voting for Donald Trump," said Kelly Laurentus, a junior at Hofstra University majoring in public relations. "I just ultimately feel like he’s the best decision for our country based on the state we’re in right now and on his values and everything."

"I think right now the biggest issue to deal with is foreign affairs and everything going on in other countries, and I just think he’s a better candidate than Clinton is on things like that," said Laurentus, a former Bernie Sanders supporter.

"This #election is crazy, both candidates are very out there, but it’s going to be really cool to have a say in the choice that’s made," she said.

Tonight's highly anticipated presidential debate will be hosted at @HofstraU. NBC News approached several first-time student voters on campus about their thoughts on the candidates.
