When the @osteriamorinidc pastry chef @alexnlevin bakes for Rosh Hashana, he uses his grandmother’s classic recipes and adds a twist. @alexnlevin's grandmother Martha Hadassah Nadich wasn’t just any home baker. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, she was the longtime @nytfood editor Craig Claiborne’s go-to expert on Jewish cooking. And for the second day of #RoshHashana — which starts on October 2 — she made fruit pies. @alexnlevin also makes the pies, but for his plum tart, he uses a sablé butter crust flavored with vanilla bean; a filling made simply of almonds or pistachios, sugar, egg and a bit of flour; and a topping of sliced plums. To get the @nytfood recipe for this beautiful plum almond tart, which was photographed here by @gab, visit the link in our profile.
