Met Mrs S R Nathan and her family at Parliament today. They were present as the House paid a special tribute to her husband.
Nine MPs, including Speaker Madam Halimah Yacob, shared personal anecdotes and spoke of Mr Nathan’s long and distinguished service in the trade unions, in the civil service, and as President. He had enormous personal integrity, commitment and generosity. An utterly reliable man who lived life fully, and never gave up despite the challenges he faced.
After the tributes, the House observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect.
