Do the presidential candidates really understand the multi-faceted lives of Black Americans, or of any person of color? Do we? The artist, photographer and filmmaker @bayetekenan has been exploring questions of perception for years. “One can be Latino and Black,” he writes. “One can be of a higher social class in regards to education but in a lower social class in regards to income or profession. When we lose sight of these combinations, we lose the cross-cultural connections that give our society the potential to be great.” @bayetekenan — who @bryanthomasphoto photographed today in Manhattan — is working with @ニューヨーク・タイムズ and @povdocs to tell stories about race and identity. This week, he interviewed several Black Americans who live what many might consider “prominent” lives. But there are many more stories to tell. That's where you come in: What do you want to show us and tell us about your American experience that politicians or the general public doesn't fully grasp? Post a photo or video and your story with #HereIsMyAmerica.
