It’s hard to believe the sheer magnitude of vestiges from a century ago that lie frozen-intime. A Hidden World of WWI haunts the present which can help us to see ourselves and the extreme dangers we face when we place blind faith in progress and technology as a force of nature that can only do good. As a practicing emergency physician, I’m passionate about photographing this Hidden World because it can help us to see and avoid modern catastrophes that lie right before our eyes. Modern life can blind us to extreme danger. It certainly did in the period just before WWI began and it certainly does now.
