Ian Andrewes, a coach for the @teamcanada sailing team, thought he had seen every type of flotsam and jetsam in his years on the water. That was until he and his team began training for the @リオ五輪2016 @オリンピック on Guanabara Bay 2 years ago. Just days before the start of the Games, the amount of debris in the water was "getting worse, not better," Ian told @nytimessports. In addition to the competition, this year’s sailors also have to focus on dodging floating garbage including large debris, like furniture and shipping containers, as well as smaller items like plastic bags that can catch on a rudder and stop a boat in its tracks. Earlier this week, @mjrhill photographed windsurfers out on Guanabara Bay. Follow him to see more of his #ReportingFromRio, in photos.
