Guy Miller danced at a repast for his brother, Julian Washington, who was fatally stabbed while attending a party in the South Bronx. Witnesses from that night in April said they heard someone cut the music, and a crash in the kitchen. Then one guest, wielding a steak knife in each hand, announced: “Nobody’s getting out of here alive.” Julian, who was 30, was killed while protecting his best friend, Tawana Vargas. To understand how murder lives on in New York, a city that has seen crime fall to historic lows, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ is examining the life and death of each person whose murder is recorded this year in the 40th Precinct in the South Bronx. @angelfranco_nyt took this photo of Guy dancing at the Storefront Academy Harlem, where Julian attended elementary school. “It’s crazy because this is what we were doing that night,” Tawana told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ of the above scene. “And that’s Julian,” she said, pointing to Guy. “He dances just like Julian.” Visit the link in our profile to read more about the sixth murder that occurred this year in the 40th Precinct — or as it's known to police, the 4-0.
