Yiech Pur Biel, 21, left, and Paulo Amotun Lokoro, 24, both originally from South Sudan, will compete on @teamrefugees in the @リオ五輪2016 #Olympics. Paulo got lost while fleeing his Sudanese village in 2003, unable to keep up with his parents. He didn't see them until 3 years later, when he found them at the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. Yiech fled his village in 2005 and stayed behind in South Sudan with a neighbor while his mother and brother headed for Ethiopia. He hasn't heard from them since. “We can forget what happened before,” Biel told @nytimessports. “We can celebrate. We can have hope, like everyone else.” The photographer @mjrhill took this photo of Yiech and Paulo of @teamrefugees while #ReportingFromRio. Yiech will be competing in the 800- meters next Friday and Paulo in the 1,500 meters a week from Tuesday.
