ニューヨーク・タイムズのインスタグラム(nytimes) - 7月15日 09時16分

In July 1952, the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer George Tames photographed the setup for the @gopconvention in Chicago. That week, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ looked at what was then to become “the most complete and exhaustive television coverage ever recorded at such events.” Some 99% of the nation’s TV sets in 64 cities would receive live coverage, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reported. The list of cities included Denver, Portland and San Francisco, but because they didn’t have TV stations at the time, viewers would have to watch from movie theatres and hotels. The article went on to describe the “complicated maze of technical equipment and wires” required to broadcast live, and listed the talent making the trip to help report the news: Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Bob Hope and others. Needless to say, a contemporary version of such a list would be too long to print. How will you be tuning into the #RNC next week? #tbt
