Tourists, who shy away from expensive treatments in a health spa, use the mud from Saki Lake for self-treatment. Saki, a small town on the western coast of the Crimean Peninsula, is best known for its health resorts and mud therapy treatments. The bed of the lake is covered with a bluish-black silt containing high levels of salt and fatty acids. Mud treatment is claimed to help anything from skin problems to severe diseases and overall heath.
