A rainy night at the Brandenburg Gate, located in the western part of Berlin’s city center. King Frederick William II of Prussia commissioned the Brandenburg Gate as a sign of peace. During the post-war Partition of Germany, the gate was isolated and inaccessible immediately next to the Berlin Wall. Today the Brandenburg Gate is one of the most well known landmarks of Germany and is visited by thousands of tourists every day.
