Photo: @jim_sugar | In 1953, American scientist Stanley Miller performed an experiment that may explain what occurred on primitive Earth billions of years ago. He sent an electrical charge through a flask of a chemical solution of methane, ammonia, hydrogen and water. This created organic compounds including amino acids. This photo was made in Dr. Miller's lab at University of California San Diego. I traded shirts with him for the photo because I did not like the shirt he wore to the photo shoot.
