#NewYorkCity is in the midst of another building boom, one unlike any that has come before. Right now, the city has 21 buildings with roof heights above 800 feet, 7 of which have been completed in the past 15 years. 28 Liberty —the 60-story office tower, once known as 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza, pictured here — was completed in 1961 and stands 813 feet fall. At this kind of height, you feel something unusual in a city defined by its bustle — a kind of Alpine loneliness. Or, as @nytmag editor in chief @silverjake puts it: “an austere sense of apartness inspired by achieving a perspective seemingly not meant for human eyes.” @Magnum Photos photographer @christopherandersonphoto captured a free yoga class conducted on the top floor of 28 Liberty.
