National Parks, [6 of 18], Photo by @jonathan_irish // Petrified Forest National Park is one of the least visited, and most underrated, parks in the system. When thinking about Petrified Forest, most people think of either the grand views of the Painted Desert in the northern part of the park or the iconic petrified wood, hundreds of millions of years old, lying along the footpaths. Both are incredible to experience. However, I fell in love with Blue Mesa (pictured here) in the central part of the park. When the sun sinks below the horizon after a rainstorm, this is one of the most incredible views in the park system.
