I spent several mornings, and only one sunset, at the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park. I'm not sure which I prefer better at the dunes, they both have their advantages. At sunset you have to go a bit further away to get to the clean (non-trampled) sand and to avoid the massive crowds. But then again, if you keep your eyes peeled, you can capture beautiful moments like this between two friends. I like to get a balance of images....I am always drawn to the pure nature (without people) shots. However, the beauty of the human element can be such a powerful part of the photo. Like shooting both sunrises and sunsets, I suggest you take time to both avoid and include having people in your shots to see what works the best for your eye as well as other viewers
