National Parks, [4 of 18], Photo by @jonathan_irish // Mesa Arch is one of the highlights of any visit to the Islands in the Sky section of Canyonlands National Park. But to get this shot, you have to get up well before sunrise, drive into the park, and set up in the right spot before the other photographers get there and inevitably line up next to you. You’ll then have to wait an hour or so for the sunrise, often in windy and cold weather. But when that sun first dips over the distant ridge, lighting up the belly of Mesa Arch from the reflection of the rock below, it is an incredible sight you will never forget. The early bird gets the photograph.
