Today I told my mom that we had an emergency and she needed to drop everything and go help this little kitty named Yarnell. So she drove over to the shelter and took some nice photos and videos of him to see if a hero would step in and give him a loving home for the rest of the time he is here.
His sad story… He was brought to the OC Animal Care Shelter in Orange, Ca Jan 3, as a “stray.” Being that he is a 4 paw declaw and neutered, most likely he was relinquished that way so that his owners wouldn’t have to pay the surrender fee. Sad but true and they say it happens often at the shelter.
He is 16 yrs old and was declawed on all 4 paws. He’s real skinny but eats and eats and drinks lots of water. He loves chicken but not fish. Yep, he’s a finicky eater.
He’s receiving fluids and is underweight. They say he should be evaluated by an outside vet to if he has a thyroid or kidney problem. He most likely will need some sort of supportive care for the rest of his time.
The nice people at the shelter have fallen in love with him since he is so sweet and purrs all the time. He’s alert and loves attention and being petted.
I can’t imagine how he must feel now. Not only has he had to endure such an inhumane thing of being declawed, but now this.
I’m sure he’s scared, alone, and wishes he could just live in a warm, safe home with humans who really care about him for the remainder of his life.
The greatest gift anyone can give a little senior kitty is a home with love.❤️
Hopefully this sad story will have a happy ending.
