In the spirit of some inspiring suggestions from 6 of my sensitive and caring supporters, who were ready to hit the "unfollow" button, I will try to just keep my facebook page happy-go-lucky and fun.
Every Sunday I will post a letter like this one, to raise awareness about the inhumane practice of declawing, that over 25% of cat owners in America, cruelly do to their kitties. The link to this amazing letter is on my bio on here and also at citythekitty.com in my blog.
I'll have a tame personality, like Garfield or Lil Bub, instead of an extreme one, so that no one thinks the human at the keyboard is playing with a hard ball.
I will try to catch more flies with honey instead of with my sharp claws. It might get a little messy but they say it will be worth it.
One of the suggestions was that I do more education on the subject. Here is a factoid you can share with your friends, family, and co-workers.
There are around 85 million cats in America. Around 21 million cats have been declawed. Let's pick a modest fee for a declaw and go with $300.
That means $6.300,000,000 went in the pockets of veterinarians for a non-therapeutic procedure that doesn't heal or help a cat and only hurts and harms them. Yes, that's at least 6.3 billion dollars and counting. Next time you are at your vets, ask them how much they charge for a declaw. They have 6.3 billion reasons not stop doing them. I forget.. what do you call that kind of money?
