This makes me sad but I need to shine light on it. Many of you are writing me asking for an update on my three friends, Ryder, Teeger, and Abby, who were declawed by a 30 yr member @avmavets /AAFP veterinarian at an AAHA hospital in May of last year and had horrible complications. ?
Both the owner vet of this American Animal Hospital Association hospital and the American Veterinary Medical Association/American Association of Feline Practitioners vet who declawed them, talked the first time cat owners out of using SoftPaws and said declawing was a common and standard procedure and that their cats would be fine. The vet bills, paid by this unethical vet's insurance company, to keep these cats alive and to try to help them, are up to over $75,000.
After months and months of unimaginable suffering from these declaws, this is now their new "normal" and sad reality. Their new doctors are giving Ryder and Abby a few extra weeks to see if their paws heal. They still have small open wounds because they no longer have pads. If their paws don't completely heal, they will both have to go in for another surgery.
All three cats have had at least two surgeries each to help repair their paws and Abby has had 3 surgeries, since she lost the most of her paws. Teeger also has had to have most of the bones in his paws amputated.
