The sixth and final season of @ダウントン・アビー kicked off last night on @masterpieceonpbs. It will soon be over for Lord and Lady Grantham, their daughters, relations and servants. The success of the series has been huge in Britain, where the final season has already aired. Almost 20% of the population watched #Downton for several seasons — quite the accomplishment for a show that was originally envisaged as a single season. “You want to go at a high point,” said Julian Fellowes, Downton’s sole writer, of the show’s end. “You don’t want to go when everyone is relieved to see the back of you. It’s like a woman with a successful frock. There is a moment when you’ve worn it enough.” The photographer Nick Briggs took photos on the set of #DowntonAbbey.
