This proud girl is Araceli del Rosario Suárez. Most people think of gauchos—probably Argentina’s best known cultural group—as men, but it is the women who uphold the tradition. This portrait was taken near Humahuaca, in the Jujuy Province, and it's part of a larger body of work developed by the #BiophiliaFoundation created by @marcovernaschi to develop the first fair-trade platform representing South American rural farmers. The portrait was published by @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine in April 2015, in the story #ArgentineIdentities.
