Mark Hamill plays Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is out in U.S. cinemas today. In an interview with TIME, Hamill admits he was surprised when he was called back to a galaxy far, far away. “Remember the torch-bearing angry villagers that stormed the castle in Frankenstein? I had images of that, substitute light sabers for torches,” he says. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, he concluded. “I had no choice whatsoever. And I love it."
