Being a Singaporean is not a matter of ancestry - it is conviction and choice, as Mr S Rajaratnam said, long ago.

Today, I presented citizenship certificates to 200 new citizens. Most of whom have spent years in Singapore, developed strong ties, and integrated into our society. I hope they will continue to deepen their roots here, and work with us to build a brighter future for Singapore.
