In honor of #WorldFoodDay, respect to the farmers that feed us — Workers in India's fertile #Punjab pull an overstuffed load of rice stalks to a farm where they will be used as animal feed. High-yielding varieties, along with subsidized fertilizer and irrigation, have helped India stave off famine for decades.

I took this photograph of a brilliantly (and precariously) over-stuffed harvest of rice stalks for the @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine story, #EndofPlenty, a multi-country assignment looking at the rising costs of food and how we feed ourselves around the world.
