Shahad, 3, carries scars from the August morning when an artillery shell thought to contain a chemical agent hit her family’s home in Marea, #Syria. Her family has suffered from an agonizing form of violence that since the 1990s had seemed to fade into the past, only to be revived by the Islamic State. Shahad’s newborn sister died two weeks after the attack.
