A., a lesbian from South Africa, has survived three homophobic attacks. A survivor of rape, she lives in fear of men and the people in her community who persecute her because of her sexuality. She is one of a number of people @hammond_robin photographed in seven countries @whereloveisillegal. All of his subjects had the option to destroy their photos if they thought they threatened their safety. “Letting them have the power over the process not only made them feel more secure, but it also changed our relationship,” @hammond_robin wrote on the #lensblog.
