Shot inside our Frank Lloyd Wright building, Matthew Barney’s Cremaster 3 (2002) is the final in a series of five visually extravagant films exploring the process of creation. In “The Order,” the artist can be seen scaling the interior of our building, deploying five levels of the Guggenheim's spiraling ramps in an allegory representing the five chapters of the cycle. The film was the centerpiece of Barney’s 2002 exhibition at the Guggenheim, a five-channel video suspended in the middle of the rotunda.
