In honor of tonight's #bluemoon, contemplate artist #SimrynGill's "Full Moon" (2012) on view now in #Storylines. The use of gathering and reordering as ways to generate new associations is a hallmark of Gill’s practice. For this series, Gill disassembled books from her grandfather’s library and added circular designs in ink, gouache, and grass pigment. Attempting to produce the most basic of shapes upon textual surfaces, Gill exercises an understanding that perfection, like the fullness of the moon, is difficult to perceive with the naked eye. ?
