Photo: @remibenali | The photograph of our lions posted here had a tremendous impact, seen by more than 2 millions followers. It is great that many of us joined together to sign the petition asking for justice and we will see if the US Government will extradite the man responsible to Zimbabwe now...However, I have to say that I was personally troubled by your comments, many asking to torture and kill the hunter. It is not because the guy is an A... that we should speak that way. Each life is precious and the power of hate on the net seems without limits now. This includes other tragic stories, such as young people killing themselves because of pressures from a virtual crowd. In the future, what I could call a Web Amok Factor (Amok is a Malaysian term for a violent and murderous furor) will surely kill people from a distance and that will be a challenge to our democracies...But let's keep going. Trophy hunting has lasted too long, the times have changed and it brings nothing "glamorous" to society. I really believe that discovery and thrills can still be found in a new form of Safari and that photography offers it all! I am not at all a wildlife photographer like my respectable and estimeed colleagues at The Photo Society @franslanting, @mattiasklumofficial, @beverlyjoubert, @stevewinterphoto, @timlaman, @nickngs, @paulnicklen and a several others (check it out @thephotosociety!). As you have seen, I am more in the Mankind world, exploring ancient civilizations and cultures (and Archaeology that I will post this year). But I was moved when I photographed a very special place in Tanzania a few years ago, an incredible setting to see and appreciate the wildlife. Seeing the animals so close, free in their natural habitat, was probably the most beautiful and impressive traveling I have ever done and I strongly encourage you to save money and give yourself this gift of a lifetime! I will not do a #storytelling this time but I will post these images regularly on my feed @remibenali. "Into the Cradle of Life" will honor in August the memory of Cecil, the Magnificent lion. Rest in Peace gorgeous friend. #Africa #Tanzania #wildlife #photosafari #ripcecilthelion
