Photograph by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz / @thephotosociety The little green dots are cassava plants in a well/tended slash-and-burn clearing in Brazil's #Xingu National Park. This small clearing and a steady supply of fish is all that it takes to support an extended family of Native Americans with enough food for a couple of years. After the second harvest the field will be left fallow for the soil to recover and the trees to come back.
