"A bee sting prevented me from ever seeing #theSmiths. My sister and I, both huge Smiths fans, had saved up to buy tickets for what would be the biggest show we’d ever seen at that point — a sold-out September 16th, 1986 show at Radio City Music Hall, which was canceled just days before. The rumor at the time was that #Morrissey had been stung by a bee causing the Smiths to cancel several shows that week in 1986. Missing that concert crushed us, more so when the band split soon after in mid 1987 and we’d never get another chance. Since then I’ve been lucky to see Morrissey solo many times — including a show at Radio City show 20 years after the bee incident. Every time I see him perform it’s like a gift. I photographed Morrissey's show this past weekend, June 27th, 2015.
