"Listening to the #FooFighters was a given when growing up in the DMV because of hometown hero Dave Grohl. To think that years later on behalf of @Rolling Stone I would capture the band’s 20th anniversary is surreal — and what better way to do it than on Independence Day at the Nation's Capitol. Although a torrential downpour interrupted the festivities, the amazing behind-the-scenes magic minimized the Foo Fighters’ delay to only 15 minutes. As the curtain finally gave way and everyone saw Dave sitting on his throne with a broken leg, the stadium grew silent with uncertainty if the show would be the same. In an instant all concerns disappeared once Grohl strummed the first chords and moved with resilience while the band rocked out in full force. This performance proved why the Foo Fighters continue to be musically relevant and served as a testament of their dedication to fans like me. Rock on!"
