Despite the consensus that hardcore punk is fringe music, Suicidal Tendencies have surmounted their unsavory name and a reputation for fan violence to become serious contenders in the mainstream rock & roll stakes. Building on a following of Southern California skateboarders, the group's debut album 'Suicidal Tendencies' – released in 1983 by Frontier, a small independent label – sold over 200,000 copies. . .
