“I always think about my own dad coming home from working in Manhattan when I was growing up,” @fremson said while looking at this photo, which she shot in 2005 in Lower Manhattan. “And I have this image of him taking the subway home. He always wore a trench coat and he always wore a hat. I remember that I took that photo on a misty, rainy day — it just reminded me of Dad.” @fremson, a @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer, grew up in Queens. Her father took the train home from his job on the Upper East Side to 179th Street in Jamaica every day. “My parents chose that neighborhood because they wanted their kids to grow up with a tree, or grass,” she said.
