Pretty much every major ocean basin BUT the North Atlantic has #PurpleBlobOfTheWeek potential right now. Last week’s PBOTW, Typhoon Dolphin, has transitioned to an extratropical storm east of Japan, and looks to flipper its way into another blob in the NPAC this weekend (and no, this isn’t fall!). Meanwhile, we'll have blobbage littering the South Indian, South Pacific, and South Atlantic over the next several days. However, the storm that is standing above all others at the moment is the system that moved out from under New Zealand earlier this week. This storm had satellite confirmed winds/seas in excess of 50kts/40ft on Monday and will be responsible for the second of a pair of solid swells about to impact French Polynesia and beyond over the next few days. We’re also watching for more storm/swell activity from this general location in the SW Pacific over the next several days – so be sure to check the #SurflineForecast in your destination of choice for further details.
