Daffodils are one of my very favorite early spring bloomers. Here on our farm we grow 25 different varieties. Freshly picked daffodils ooze a clear, slimy sap that is actually toxic to other flowers and will shorten their vase life by half. To prevent this from happening, you'll want to condition the daffodils before you mix them with other ingredients. Place freshly cut stems into cool water, alone, for a few hours. During that time the stem ends will callous over and the toxic sap will stop flowing. Then they are safe to use. When adding them to a mixed arrangement, don't recut the stems because the sap will start leaking all over again. -- @floretflower #instagramtakeover
