This kindergarten outside of Tokyo is designed to let kids be kids. The roof of the oval-shaped school lets students run in endless loops, and trees grow directly through the classrooms. Students are encouraged to climb and explore. “Other schools might not allow this, but the principal here believes children know their own limits,” says architect Takaharu Tezuka. “They stop when they have to stop.” To see more of the best kindergarten in the world, head to go.ted.com/classroomclimb
