The #RollingStones released ‘Sticky Fingers’ on this day in 1971. “The Stones began recording ‘Sticky Fingers’ — the first album to appear on their Rolling Stones Record Label — in Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, in Alabama, during their 1969 American tour, and they finished it the following year in London. Richards claims that he and Jagger wrote the chorus to ‘Wild Horses’ in the bathroom at Muscle Shoals. When Keith began the song in England, it was an expression of his reluctance to leave his infant son, Marlon, to go to America to start work on the Stones’ tour. It is also thought to be about Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull, who were going through difficult times. Though she’s not credited on the album, Marianne Faithfull co-wrote the stark, desperate ‘Sister Morphine,’ which is probably also about her.” From the August 27th, 1987 issue of @Rolling Stone
