"I was assigned to take a portrait of #RodStewart before he performed a private concert to promote his newest album at the iHeartradio offices in NYC. I had to be on standby at the venue because the portrait session was cancelled and then back on several times due to Mr. Stewart having a tight schedule that day. I had a makeshift studio setup in a back room and was ready to go, until I was suddenly notified that the portrait session was back on…except it had to be next to his dressing room and it was going to happen in less than five minutes across the building. We grabbed our equipment and headed over. We literally had one minute to get the light in position. Mr. Stewart walked onto set before I could test exposure. My first shot was three stops underexposed. I quickly adjusted my exposure on my Profoto Air remote and took a second shot. I immediately checked the back of my camera, and the pose and exposure was spot-on. When I looked up a second later, Mr. Stewart had silently disappeared to go to his next meeting…and that’s the story of my two-shutter-click portrait session with Rod Stewart."
